IPL Venues and Pitches

The IPL 3 edition matches are going to be held at 12 venues. It is the responsibility of the IPL to ensure that the pitch at these playing grounds are fit and worthy for playing. The recent test match between Srilanka and India at Kotla ground triggered a contreversy. The Srilanka players refused to continue to play the matches due to uneven bounce, as they felt that playing is very dangerous to the players and may cause serious injury. The Srilanka team also complained about the standard of the pitch and the ICI took note of their complaint and banned the play ground for one year for international matches.

The Delhi Cricket Association was upset over the development and took immediate steps to regain the lost reputation. The Delhi cricket association is in the process of reconstructing the pitch under the supervision of Venkata Sundaram, chairman of DDCA pitches and grounds committee .The IPL now deputed MAK Patuadi, chairman, IPL cricket committee, to inspect the Kotla ground and assess the fitness of the pitch to play IPL matches.MAK Patuadi, after inspecting the Kotla ground stated that he is satisfied with remedial work carried out on the pitch. He is hopeful of successful holding of IPL matches at Kotla ground.

Patuadi inspected the practicing facilities, play ground and other infrastructures and expressed satisfaction about the arrangement. The DDCA had put in all its efforts and tried to complete the work with in the stipulated time so that the IPL matches could be held as scheduled.

The BCCI was upset over the recent development and wanted all its affiliated state associations to pay more focus on their pitches so that there is no room for any adverse comment from the other cricket playing countries about the standard of the pitches in India.
