Bangalore Royal challengers elucidated new found confidence , hugely derived from their newly discovered captain Anil Kumble and staged their third successive victory in IPL second season, to set up a semi – final show down with Chennai super Kings.
It all commenced with a one teenager by name Manish pandey, who announced himself as first Indian centurion of this year IPL, by hitting an unbeaten century, to take his side, to a commanding one seventy runs, which proved too much for Deccan chargers in the end.
Kumble rang in several changes, which turned gold for them; one such move is sending Manish pandey, to open the innings along with Jacques kallis and it literally proved to be the master stroke at the end. Roelof De Merwe was also promoted up the order, infront of Rahul Dravid and Ross Taylor, which came good.
Even though Manish Pandey was given by reprieve in his start of the innings, where R P Singh failed to judge a catch properly in a third man region, but nothing can’t be taken away from the Bangalore teenager, who showed great calm as well as much needed calamity, in the end, which are the pivotal pillars, in this format of the game.
Except for Andrew Symonds, Ryan Harris rest of the bowlers were shown scant respect and so is their economy rate, which turned horrible. Deccan Chargers openers Gibbs and Gilchrist came to the crease, with knowing that only a batting debacle can stop them reaching the semi – final spot.
Openers got the ball rolling quickly, especially Gibbs was in a rampant form, that he emulated Gilchrist in scoring, which happens rarely and also continued the good work even after the departure of Gilchrist, by reaching a finely made half century.
Anil Kumble was magical with his spin bowling, where he pegged back the Gilchrist through his opening spell and also accounted for two valuable wickets of Suman and Rohit Sharma, so is Vinay Kumar, who filled the void left by the injured Kallis in the bowling department and also claimed two valuable wickets , with a healthy economy rate.
Once Roelof De Merwe removed dangerous looking Andrew Symonds, it proved too much for the rest of batsmen, to win the battle under lights, but made sure they pushed Punjab to the fifth spot in terms of net run rate, to set up a semi – final clash against Delhi Dare Devils on Friday.
