Breezy new IPL from the continent of Africa

IPL 2nd edition is not even a week old and already it has sprung a few surprises to audience, who were expecting a run flood or merciless clouting of bowlers.

Bowlers sparring few, cooked dishes for batsmen feast, but this edition of IPL promises, to be much better battle between bat and ball. Anil kumble’s five wickets against Rajasthan Royals and Daniel Vettrori’s match winning performance of three for fifteen against Punjab kings XI has brought the faith, of democracy, for both bowlers and batsmen.

Highest score scored by a team so far was mere 175, which was made by Chennai Super Kings, when even scores like 150 or 160 looked paltry and a cakewalk for chasing teams, this year it could prove competitive. As one understands average scores recorded in the T 20 matches held in South Africa is well between 150 and 160.

IPL 2nd edition is quite obviously has grown fierce and competitive, when we get to hear even legends of game like Glenn Mc Grath or Muthiah Muralitharan has to be left out of playing eleven.

Strategy breaks at end of ten over of each innings, which are one of the many additions in this edition of IPL has already been the issue, of heat debate. Mixed responses evolved from players, where some players feel it hugely puts breaks in the momentum of game, where other players feel that it can provide lifeline for a team to get together, if they are under pressure, as mentioned my Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Spinners, who did not make a great impact last year, are in headlines for all good reasons and one need not be surprised, if one get to see teams playing two specialist spinners in their teams.

Pitches are also very different compared, to last year feather beds and also offers much more scope, for bowlers, to stage their talent and batsmen, to employ their mind. Al ready one has witnessed major upsets, where pre – tournament favourites like Chennai super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have bitted the dust.

Lack of an ICC window for IPL, has already afflicted many teams especially Punjab kings XI and Rajasthan Royals, who looks bit rusty without players like Shaun Marsh, Brett Lee and Shane Watson , Sohail Tanvir respectively.

IPL 2nd edition is yet to catch whims and fancies of Indian viewers, after what they were manifested with last year, but things looks very optimistic for IPL to emerge not just successful but as a global phenomenon.
