Delhi did not do an iota wrong ,for their favourites tag; where they literally strolled over the knight Riders, in a feather bed of a pitch in Johannesburg. They were too strong for Knight Riders in all facets of the game and end result epitomized exactly that, where Delhi won the match by seven wickets and within seventeenth over.
Earlier Gautham Gambhir stand – in captain, for injured Virender shewag won the toss and inducted Kolkata batsmen to bat, which was rather puzzling, as ball might do a bit under lights; maybe it sounded Delhi wanted some challenge.
One cannot stop pitying Kolkata Knight Rider’s captain, whose woes with IPL in season two sounds to be incessant, where this time around he was handed over with a unfair LBW decision by the umpire of Ashish Nehra, who was just before clouted for a huge six over mid wicket.
Nehra bowled with plenty of venom, where he appeared to have forged a formidable combination with Dirk Nannes, to remove top three batsmen of Kolkatta Knight Riders. Sourav Ganguly, was the only top order batsmen who withered the storm of Delhi bolwers, but he can’t help much, but being a mere spectator for their batsmen departing to pavilion.
Ajit Agarkar, one of the former Indian International player and well crooned batsmen, showed much needed application and intent, which came as huge consolation for Sourav Ganguly. But just when Sourav was set to launch into Delhi attack, he was castled, by slower delivery, of Dirk Nannes.
For Delhi bowlers Amit Mishra carried the good work of his opening bowlers, where he kept the batsmen under scrutiny in the middle over’s and also claimed three valuable wickets in the process, even though Ajit Agarkar managed some lusty hitting in the end to romp them into a respectable total of one twenty five runs, clearly falling short by at least thirty runs.
Delhi openers made a breezy start contrasting to their north – eastern counterparts, where David Warner literally treated bowlers and even some good balls with disdain. Gautham Gambhir replicated yet another failure in converting his starts, but he has already furnished a good partnership for his team to make short time of short total and Isanth Sharma removed both Dilshan and David Warner.
Ab De Villers combined with Dinesh karthick, to finish the formalities and register a thumping win over Knight Riders and move to the top of the table with well over two overs to spare.
