Pressure of being associated with IPL

Time, when entire cricketing world is fuming about financial whims and fancies associated with IPL, one has been oblivion about the pressure ,which is associated with the million dollar event.

Brendon Mc Cullum has been one of the biggest casualties of IPL pressure, where with not more than two weeks of his stint, as Kolkata Knight Rider’s captain; he made it clear, that he won’t continue, as a captain, if Knight Riders doesn’t make to semi – finals.

Clearly pressure of replacing a captain of pedigree like Sourav Ganguly is obvious. If you think, that pressure is just confined, to players, you are clearly prejudiced, as John Buchanan coach of Knight Riders in an interview said, that he hasn’t faced such much pressure and spotlight, even during his tenure as international coach and pressure is exorbitant.

Bangalore Royal Challengers captain Kevin Pietersen, who ascended to millionaire throne because of IPL has been the another person, who has to taste the bitter pill of IPL pressure, where his team lost four of six matches and already there are cries of removing him from the captaincy throne.

For Delhi dare devils Dirk Nannes it’s a different crisis situation all together, as he has been preferred to Glenn Mc Grath, every single ball would come under eye lashes of fans. But he has been able to relish on that challenge and flaunted with his raw pace and precision, why he precedes Glenn.

Players like Akash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar has been asked to pack their kits from South Africa and go back to their homes, as team management felt that they would have no place in their team, which is rather acerbic for the players, who just played two of their matches and clearly titanic pressure of IPL is evident.

Owners of IPL franchise are very clear with the fact that in spite of sporting value associated with IPL; its business model cannot be ruled out and they would expect great accountability for every iota of performance from players and support staffs.

GMR group head, who owns Delhi Daredevils has said in a recent interview that they will settle for nothing other than a win in tournament this edition and added that it is only way to build a brand around a team.

One cannot stop pitying the players for sheer pressure IPL brings along with it, where franchise owners appear more like a predators who will settle with nothing other than IPl trophy.
