Bangalore Royal challengers fortified their chances of semi – final berth, by defeating the league leaders Delhi daredevils, who sounded clearly complacent, after their romping to semi – final stage and handed a seven wicket comprehensive victory, to their southern counterparts.
Delhi ringed in three changes, to their last match winning combination and it was evident with their performance, as the team looked feeble and once again the opening debacle continued in form of Virender shwag getting out for duck and also Gautham Gambhir, even though showed some glimpses of his form failed, to capitalise on his start.
Once again it came to formidable middle order, to shoulder them home, which appeared to be in target with Ab De Villers and Dinesh Kaarthick batting well together, but once Ab De Villers departed, failing to read the arm ball of Roelof De Merwe, a formidable target went out of feasibility, for Delhi.
Yogesh Nagar another new IPL debutant, made some notable contribution with bat, but clearly one thirty four was not on mind of the Shewag , when he won the toss and elected to bat in a good batting track.
For Bangalore Royal Challengers Praveen kumar furnished three important wickets, while his team mate Jacques Kallis managed to keep the Delhi bastmen quite, for his four overs spell, giving away only seventeen runs.
Bangalore Royal Challengers’ chase received a early jolt, when they lost Robin Uthappa cheaply, but for their ecstasy, Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis, so called veteran cricketers combined well and played sensibly to stroll Bangalore to a comfortable position.
But Yogesh Nagar managed, to remove Rahul Dravid and also accounted for wicket of dangerous Ross Taylor, but not before enough damage done by New Zealand batsmen, where he clouted three huge sixes, to pacify the ever climbing required rate and also to wrestle his team to a comfortable position.
Delhi clearly felt the absence of Amit Mishra and Dirk Nannes, as they struggled, to make any breakthroughs and with Jacques Kallis holding one end firm, a huge defeat loomed on them, which dint change an iota at the end.
Mark Boucher and Jacques Kallis remained unbeaten in the end to romp their side to a comfortable victory and to hand shake with Delhi players, with an over to spare.
Clearly it was a lacklusture performance for Delhi , who set high standards and Royal Challengers seems to be side relishing in pressure, which further adds to excitement of battle for semi – final berth.
