Knight riders script a marathon chase against Chennai super Kings

Kolkata Knight Riders finally fabricated something for their fans and cheer girls to cheer about, as they staged the highest run chase, in history of this year IPL, by chasing down massive one eighty eight runs hit by Chennai super kings.

Matthew Hayden, the orange cap holder was made, to warm the bench, in place of G Bailey, but the move dint do much damage, to the fortunes of formidable batting line – up of Chennai super Kings, where most of the batsmen went in and flaunted their abilities with bat.

Even though Chennai lost both of its openers for unnecessary run – outs, Dhoni and Raina combined well to script a fine half – century partnership, where Suresh Raina the only contender, who can give a thought of challenging Matthew Hayden bid of orange cap, came and made a yet another smashing half – century.

Albie Morkel , who came in after the departure of Suresh Raina, was also in a rampant form that he clouted two huge sixes of last over of Agarkar and took his side to an imposing target of one eighty nine runs of twenty overs.

Kolkata innings took a ominous launching pad in form of Brendon Mc Cullum, where he made most of the scoring in partnership with Ganguly and gave a much needed impetus, which was indispensable for chasing down such an titanic target.

Brad Hodge joined Brendon Mc Cullum, after the dismissal of Sourav Ganguly and they treated bowlers ,with scant respect in the placid pitch, as they staged a fine ninety run partnership to bring their team to stone throwing distance of a morale booster victory.

Except for Muralitharan all the bowlers were subjected to merciless bashing, where Albie Morkel and Balaji economy climbed to two digits. Jakata came back well to remove Brendon Mc Cullum and also their team managed to remove David Hussey from the equation, through some smart run – out form Dhoni, which turned the tide to their favour.

Wriddhman saha who joined Brad Hodge in the middle, had other ideas, as they paced the innings brilliantly and took some calculated and breathe taking risk to move closer to unlikely target.

Brad Hodge lifted Balaji to two huge sixes in penultimate over of the innings to leave thjeir team needing just six runs of six balls. Dhoni brought Suresh Raina to bowl and it promised to be a humdinger of match, where it took final delivery of the innings for Knight Riders to chase down the target and push Chennai super kings to a humiliating defeat
