IPL 2010 Teams & Strengths



The IPL 2010 third edition has the same number of teams as in the first and second editions. Rajasthan Royals won the title in the first edition while Deccan chargers emerged as winners in the second edition. Although the two teams would fight hard to capture back their cup, the other teams would fight equally hard to be the winning champions.

It is a well known fact that the Indian cricket fans are literally counting the days for the beginning of the matches. While we all wait for the most sensational tournament to begin, let’s take a look at the IPL teams and their strengths.

IPL 3 Teams
Chennai Super Kings - M.S. Dhoni captain of the Indian test & ODIs team is leading the side. He is an asset to the team as his leadership quality is uncomparable.The team has got best batsmen like Mathew Hayden, Michel Hussey, Suresh Raina and ofcourse M.S.Dhoni. The all-rounders are Jacob Oram, Albie Morkel and Thilan Thusara. The weakness of the team is their bowling and fielding. The world class spinner M.Muralitharan is out of form now. R.Ashvin is an upcoming bowler is expected to render a good performance.
Deccan Chargers - Adam Gilchrist captain of the team can be deadly on his day and can win matches single handedly. The team has got best batsmen in the world like Andrew Symonds, Dwayne Smith, Rohit Sharma and local lad Venugopal Rao. The best bowlers are R.P.Singh, Kemar Roach, Chaminda Vyas and Praghyan Oja. If the batsmen click once again then they can win this edition also.
Delhi Daredevils - The opening combination of Virender Shewag and Gautam Gambhir can be deadly. Tilakaratne Dilshan, AB de Villiers and Dinesh Karthick can add to the batting strength. The team’s bowling is little bit week. Asish Nehra, Amit Mishra, and Dirk Nannes have to come good to win the matches.
Kings X! Punjab - Yuvraj Singh, captain of the IPL Kings 11 Punjab for the second season is now replaced by Kumara Sangarkara. Shaun Marsh, an established IPL player is the main strength of the team. The other best batsmen are Yuvraj Singh, Ravi Bopara and James Hopes. Mohammad Kaif who was not in the team last time has been included. Brett Lee the main strike bowler is doubtful of playing for the team due to an injury. S. Sreeshant, Piyush Chawla and Aman Preet Singh are the main bowlers who will also be supported by all rounders Irfan Pathan and Ravi Bopara.
Kolkatta Knight Riders – Saurav Ganguly will be back as captain replacing Brandon MCcullum.The batting line up includes Brandon Mccullum, Saurav Ganguly, Chris Gayle and Brad Hodge. The team boasts of bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Ajith Agarkar, Murali Karthik and Ashok Dinda.
Mumbai Indians - This team has paid the highest price for Kieron Pollard to strengthen their batting line up. Other best batsmen include Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasurya, J.P. Duminy and the team possesses the best bowling side with players like Zaheer Khan, Lasith Malinga, and Harbajan Singh. There are also very good all rounders in the team like Dwayne Bravo and Dilara Fernando.
Rajasthan Royals - Shane Warne, who lead the team to victory in the first edition of IPL, will be leading the team. Damien Martyn, the veteran Australian batsman is a new entrant. Graeme Smith and Yousuf Pathan will be strength to the batting line up. The team has a very balanced bowling strength consisting of Shane Warne, Munaf Patel and Shaun Tait.
Royal challengers - The team is captained by Anil Kumble. Jacques Kalis, Ross Taylor, Manish Pandey, Robin Uthappa, Rahul Dravid and Kevin Peterson make the team’s best batting side. Praveen Kumar, Dale Stein and Anil Kumble are the main Bowlers.
Every IPL team has its own share of great players. It is very difficult to predict the winners at this stage as twists and turns are significant components of DLF IPL. Now all we have to do is keep our fingers crossed.
