The IPL-T20 first edition went off smoothly with out many controversies. But the second edition faced some problem due to elections in India. Some of the states were not prepared to provide adequate security to the players and to the venues, The Indian government asked the IPL authorities to postpone the tournament and the IPL authorities had consultation with the government in this regard. But however as no agreement was reached, the tournament was shifted to South Africa.
The third edition of DLF IPL is facing more issues compared to the 2nd edition even before the start of the game.
Racism attack in Australia : The attack on Indians in Australia has revoked protest in India and the Shivsena announced of not allowing the Australian players to play matches in Mumbai
Participation of Pakistan Players : The Shivsena Categorically stated that they do not welcome the Pakistan players to India and this prompted the IPL team owners not to select the Pakistan players in their teams. This evoked adverse response in Pakistan .The statement issued by the actor Shahrukh Khan in this regard further created protests in Mumbai by Shivsena.
Telengana agitation : The ongoing Telengana agitation has prompted the IPL authorities to cancel all the matches to be held Hyderabad. This has evoked strong protest from the Deccan Chargers and they threatened to withdraw from the tournament. However the issue seems to have been settled by re-scheduling the matches at Cuttack which is nearer to Hyderabad.
Shane Warne’s suggestion : Now the IPL Rajasthan Royal’s captain has suggested shifting the IPL matches to South Africa due to security reasons. The recent Pune bomb blast has raised fear in the minds of international players and the Australian players are waiting for the advice of their security expert Reg Dickason. It is learnt that the Australian players will take a decision whether to travel to India or not based on their security advisor.
The absences of Australian players will definitely become a handicap to the success of the tournament and it seems that the IPL management will take all the possible steps to convince the Australian players to participate in the tournament by guaranteeing them safety.
