Lalith Modi, chairman of IPL had been confronted by players, players association and now recently even government regarding the security issues of IPL 2nd edition. He sounds to be shrewd enough visionary, as template for security of IPL has been planned and fabricated by him well in advance, when England played test matches in India. Including transporting players from airport to their travel arrangements to cricket ground everything have been planned for a fool proof security. Even disaster management systems have been placed in all the stadiums which hosts IPL
It’s not that, he dint encounter any ups and down. His life sounds to be full of oscillations. Even recently Lalith Modi lost Rajasthan Cricket Board Association to him compatriot Sanjay Dixit. Rumours are floating that it was because of his close association with former state chief minister Vasundra raje, defeat has been gifted to him by present Congress Government. IPL wizard doesn’t sound to be afflicted, as he says that victories and defeats are part of life.
Even though after his defeat BCCI announced that his post as IPL chairman is not affected in any way and he will stay as IPL chairman till year 2013, a much deserving gift for all his hard work and effort.
Modi has been in pool of controversies and media eyes ever since incumbent of IPL post. Recently even a case was registered for fraud and cheating against him, regarding his public announcement that he would donate 6 crores to those affected by Jaipur blast. He was also accused of acquiring piece of land in Nagpur in unfair means. He has comeback stronger from each controversies which he has faced which is testimony of his valour.
Even amidst the controversies, Lalith Modi commitment to IPL cannot be doubted. He was assertive about the 2nd edition of IPL going ahead, even after Union Home minister asked him to postpone it. Yesterday’s meeting between BCCI and Government officials have also given a ray of hope that IPL would go ahead with light change in city schedules.
Lalith Modi recently announced that they are willing to stage IPL in small cities Rajkot, Nagpur and Baroda if necessary so that elections and IPL matches doesn’t disturb each other. His Proactive and quick decision making skills is without doubt one of the centripetal force which have still kept the chances of IPL 2nd edition alive .
