The success of IPL T20 has surprised the other cricketing countries as they did not expect such a huge response to the tournament. The second edition held outside India also achieved the expected success and the Indian cricketing fans continue to give full support to this mega cricketing event. The franchisees who had won the auction for the eight teams earned very good profit. It was never expected that the Bollywood actors would evince so much interest to become the owners of the teams. The IPL authorities have restricted the total number of teams to eight in all the three editions.
The grand success of the tournament prompted the IPL management to think of increasing the number of teams. The next edition of Live IPL T20 will have two more teams for which franchisees have to be selected. There will be a tough competition to own these two teams and the competition may even come from the other cricketing countries. It won’t be a surprise, if some other Bollywood celebrities may participate in the auction.
As per the latest news surfaced today, the MCC of England is very much keen on owning a team. It is reliably learnt that the representative of MCC has recently traveled to India to take stock of the situation. It seems that they are chalking out their plans to jump into the fray.MCC is a reputed world cricketing association and they have a strong binding to this sports. There can not be a better candidate than the MCC to own for the franchisee.
It is reported that the MCC had consultation with some of the investors in order to plan to purchase one of the franchisees of IPL T20 to be auctioned on 12-march-2010.The MCC so far associated with the traditional form of cricket and is now preparing itself to adopt itself to the changing trend of the game. The new format of cricket T20 is now creating a wave and the oldest cricket association now realized the fact that the future will be only for the short version of the game.
