Laith Modi has announced recently that Inaugural match which was scheduled to help in Jaipur, would be potentially shifted to Mumbai due to security reasons and elections. IPL entitles the tournament winners the exclusive right to host the inaugural match, so franchise owners were disappointed that they lost out on it.
There were speculations floating in air that IPL inaugural match was shifted from Rajasthan because Laith Modi lost in Rajasthan Cricket Association elections. It was also speculated that whether Jaipur would host any matches of IPL is doubtful.
Rajasthan Franchise Owner Sanjay Badale who realised the importance of hosting matches in Jaipur for home support, went to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to request for adequate security, so that they can host IPL matches in Jaipur without much concerns.
Ashok Gelhot is said to have responded positively for his request and have said that he would write to BCCI and IPL committee, regarding scheduling matches in Jaipur itself.
Shilpa Shetty girlfriend of Rajasthan Royals franchise joint shareholder of about 11.2 %, unveiled Rajasthan Royals jersey in a recent function, also expressed displeasure in venue change from Jaipur for inaugural match said that they are left with no options rather than pursuing orders of IPL committee and BCCI. She also expressed hope that Jaipur can host at least few matches for joy of homes fans and team can fancy more chances in home ground than away.
In fact hot politics between Rajasthan state government and IPL Chairman Lalith Modi hasn’t held caused of Jaipur. As governing Council of IPL has entitled final decision authority of hosting IPL matches to him. Even Ahmadabad has been confirmed as alternate venue along with Cuttack which would be most likely venues, which franchise can choose for hosting few matches initially supposed to be held in Jaipur.
Manoj Badale ,who was also present along with Shilpa shetty during teams jersey release function, wiped out allegations ,that their team does not have local flavour through their state players. He said that players are chosen on pure talent and he does not have any bias against state.
Rajsthan Royals are also entitled to host the final in which ever stadium they wish, which seems very unlikely that even final of this year IPL would be played in jaipur. Rumours are rife in press that it would be played in Mumbai Bourborne stadium or DJ patil stadium. Hope politics and Cricket travel in separate lane for good of fans.
