Earlier there were speculations about the participation of Glenn. Mc. Grath in 2nd edition of IPL owing to security concerns in India and also his body’s physical conditions. But with IPL2 shift to South Africa, all speculations have put to rest and Mc. Grath has confirmed his participation in IPL 2nd edition for Delhi DareDevils in his recent interview.
He was one of the star bowlers in last edition of IPL, where he took 14 wickets from his quota of matches. In fact many people wrote him off, as he dint even bowl, a ball after finals of World cup 2007, but he simply let his ball do the talking, by being as mice with the ball faring at a rate of mere 6.40 per over, which can be said to be a great achievement in a run flood IPL.
Everybody is aware of Mc. Grath, the fiery on target fast bowler, but now he has donned a new role, as a founder of Janet Mc. Grath cancer foundation and offering possible valuable service to his fellow human beings.
Mc .Grath sounded keen and excited to feel leather ball once again, even at age of forty; he sounded optimistic, which can be sure warning bells for batsmen. He said that there are many motivating factors which have decided him to participate in IPL; one is the huge money 350,000 $ dollars which could be credited on his bank account and also his passion for cricket.
He also spoke about his fatherhood and also value of money, which do counts and IPL can be useful for him to contribute to foundation as well substantiate his living expenses. Glenn would commence his IPL preparations by joining the camp in Delhi with Delhi DareDevils squad, before leaving for South Africa along with squad on April 7.
When queried on players pull out from national duty owing to IPL, he answered that its better for ICC ( International cricket committee ), to create a window for IPL, so that they can avoid such unnecessary developments like west Indies players threatening to abandon their national matches, to participate in IPL.
Mc. Grath also said that, last year he had concerns about his ailing wife, which affected his performance and this year he would not have that burden, where he would be mentally well prepared, to face the IPL litmus test
. No doubt this living legend would come out with flying colours in this edition of IPL, with his sheer will power and valour.
