IPL authorities ready to host even 3 matches in a single day

Laith Modi, chairman; Sundara Raman CEO ; Dhiraj Amphora Director of IPL has hit the headlines much more than Indian Prime Minister in last month addressing the various concerns of press, press, election commission and now latest addition to the list is local security officials.

Even after the day, when government has asked them to again reschedule the dates, due to shortage of adequate security officials, Dhiraj malhotra appeared confident stating that they know they will get backlash in certain areas, which is reason they have kept a fluid schedule.

He was also quoted saying that they are ready to host even 3 matches in a single day, if it’s required. One must have been aware, that last year maximum of two matches is held in its 1st edition.

Already officials have said, that matches cannot be exactly staged during weekdays or Sundays, because of elections. Sony Entertainment television would be the party to get afflicted, because they would not get huge revenue from advertising, compared to prime slots during weekends.

Delving on possibility, whether they can stage 3 matches in a day, Sony Entertainment has 2 of its dedicated channels like Sony and Sony Set Max. So it’s very much feasible, as expressed by IPL authorities.

IPL authorities have received another major blow, when Banaglore police commissioner has expressed that they can provide security for IPL matches before May 3, because of their commitments to Lok Sabah elections in April.

However in his letter to Vijay Mallya, he said that security would be provided, if matches are played on May 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 19 and 20 suggesting the organizers to consider it, when rescheduling the dates.

Dhiraj Malhotra was quoted saying that, even though it is a tight situation, they are constantly rescheduling the dates, so that they get a mutual consent with Government authorities and local security authorities.

Franchises are other party, who are worst afflicted as already it’s quite obvious they will lose the advantage of generating revenue from their home venues and with great imbroglio with schedules and venues. Ticket sales in venues could not be instigated earlier as they would have like.

They would require investing massive marketing and promotions efforts to get back the addiction in audience, which was quite obvious in last edition. One can hope everything augurs well and tournament comes much stronger and fresher than before.
