Around 260 members’ names have been given in total by eight franchises.
Even though government hasn’t even given consent for staging of IPL, franchise are very confident and they have given the list of players in each respective teams, who would decorate their fame in this season of IPL.
Kolkata Knight Riders is the team which is said to have given highest number of names in one team with fifty – six players where their process of further pruning will take place once their coach John Buchanan arrives, whereas Delhi Dare Devils is a team which has given lowest number of names with twenty six players.
IPL franchise approach and strategy to scout for players has much more method and science unlike last year. Time constraint stood against franchises last year, but this year script is different where player scouting camps were conducted for selection of players. Selectors were appointed by each franchise, with well defined roles.
Many would not have forgotten the spats between the members of various franchise regarding team selection like Charu Sharma and Vijay Mallya followed by Sharukh Khan and Sourav Ganguly.
With hierarchy and roles well defined this time, one thing is certain that games will be more ferocious and competitive this time around than last time around. Kolkata Knight Rider’s team were even sent to play few matches in Australia after 1st edition of IPL, which clearly shows the kind of intent and preparation each franchise would have invested to train and hone the skills of their respective teams.
In those given 260 names barring few International players (approximately 80, as each franchise are not allowed more than 10 foreign players in their respective teams), almost 180 Indians international and domestic players have been enrolled in respective teams.
It clearly shows that more Indian players will get lucrative contracts, which was a distant dream before IPL. And IPL sounds to hit the target with one of its mission values that is to benefit and give opportunities to domestic players.
Even though no foreign player has rules out IPL because of security reasons, security will play a huge role in roping International Players, which will become more evident once tournament gets under way.
Already Pakistan players have been ruled out of IPL because of political reasons, but with tenfold increase of security, IPL looks largely and truly on. Streamlining of players further would take place within few weeks before start of tournament, which could further throw light on teams final composition and strategy clearly.
