Update on player injuries for 2nd edition of this IPL

Player injuries have become a common sight in International Cricket today, owing to highly loaded schedule. Let’s shuttle through various players who are ruled out of injuries and who are doubtful starters for this year IPL, owing to injuries.

Spunky pacer S Sreesanth, is first official International Cricketer contracted under IPL to miss this 2nd edition. He was said to be suffering from stress fracture, which has literally made it impossible for him to participate for his franchise Punjab Kings XI. Even though he is not going to play, he would be seen present with team, giving them moral support. He is also given a new role, as a fan mentor and community face.

Another player, who was said to be battling against time for IPL is Andrew Flint off. He sustained the Hip injury during his recent tour to West Indies and was sent back home. But he sounded confident of his debut for Chennai super Kings, as a first million dollar baby of IPL.

Some good news for Punjab Kings XI, Brett Lee who was out of Australian colours for some time now, is sure to make his return to cricket through IPL, which could boost their chances in tournament.

Another Australian Shane Watson, who was out of action owing to injury is also said, to have made rapid progress and would be in time for IPL bus, which is a huge news for Rajasthan Royals, as he was the player of series for last edition of IPL.

Ajantha Mendis, Srilankan spin Wizard, who has signed a long term contract with Kolkata Knight Riders, is said to be doubtful because of injuries sustained by him during terror attacks on Srilankan team on March 3rd. Even though he was recently discharged from hospital, it would take some time for him to come out of mental trauma of terror attacks.

Chris Gayle, who is rightly sustaining injury , which has forced him out of the west Indies T 20 against England in Trinidad is said to make IPL debut this season for Kolkata Knight Riders, as he has recovered well in time.

So barring few injuries, this time IPL is sure to witness lot more new players but the same old fierce altercation and battles in cricketing field. Players, who are right now nursing injuries, will have to hope everything goes well, so that they can have a live experience of this glamorous event.
